School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

The School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence originated from the Department of Information at OuhaiOujiang College of Wenzhou Normal University (now Wenzhou University) established in 2000, which was later renamed the School of Information. In 2021, with the establishment of Wenzhou PolytechnicUniverisity of Technology and its conversion to a public state public undergraduate university, the school was renamed the School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

The school comprises three departments and one division: the Department of Computer and Software Engineering, the Department of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and the General Education Division. It offers six undergraduate programs: Computer Science and Technology, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering. The Computer Science and Technology program is recognized as a first-classtier program in Zhejiang Province and serves as a nurturing point for the master's degree in Electronic Information. The Intelligent Science and Technology disciplinemajor is a first-classtier disciplinemajor construction point in Zhejiang Province (Category B).

The school currently employs over 80 staff members, including more than 60 full-time faculty members, with over 30 holding associate professorships or higher titles. The faculty includes four national and provincial talents. They have led over 50 national and provincial projects, including the National Key R&D Program and National Natural Science Foundation projects. The school has received more than ten provincial and ministerial-level awards for teaching and research achievements. There are over 1,930 undergraduate students enrolled.

The school emphasizes the integration of industry and education, and the convergence of science and education. It has established several practice bases, such as the Digital Economy Industry-Education Integration Base awarded by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the International Cloud Software Valley Digital Economy Industry-Education Integration Base awarded by the China Software Industry Association, as well as demonstration bases for industry-education integration in Zhejiang Province and Wenzhou City. The school has received several key teaching materials and teaching reform projects in the first batch of the "14th Five-Year Plan" for general undergraduate universities in Zhejiang Province. It has over 2,000 square meters of practice space equipped with advanced facilities, ensuring support for industry-education integration. The school's experimental and training center is a member of the China Computer Practice Education Federation.

The school places a strong emphasis on scientific research and distinctive development. It has established various provincial and municipal research platforms, such as the Zhejiang Provincial Women's Science and Technology Innovation Studio, Wenzhou Digital Reform Research Center, Wenzhou Mathematicians Research Center, Wenzhou Information Security Service Platform, Wenzhou PopSpectrum Big Data Research Institute, Wenzhou Social Computing and Development Research Center, and the Institute of Data Science and Computational Intelligence. The school has established extensive academic exchange and cooperation relationships with research institutions and international academic organizations in over a dozen countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The school emphasizes the leadership of the Party and adheres to the principle of fostering virtue through education. It has been recognized as a provincial-level model grassroots teaching organization for curriculum ideology and politics, and as a provincial benchmark for Party building work. The faculty Party branch has been selected as a cultivation unit for the third batch of national model Party branches in universities. The school values the comprehensive development of students' innovation abilities, practical skills, and humanistic qualities. Students are actively encouraged to participate in scientific and cultural activities, winning over 150 national and provincial awards in competitions such as the National College Students Mathematical Contest in Modeling, the American Mathematical Contest in Modeling, ACM, the Zhejiang Provincial E-commerce Competition, and the Zhejiang Provincial Statistics Survey Competition. The employment rate of graduates has consistently been above 96%, and the comprehensive quality and training of talents have been widely recognized by employers.
