Wenzhou University of Technology Yueqing Campus Foundation Laying and Groundbreaking Ceremony

On the morning of November 7th, Wenzhou University of Technology held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Yueqing Campus, officially starting construction. The campus is expected to be completed and put into use in September 2026.

The Yueqing Campus of Wenzhou University of Technology is located in Shenglitang North Area, Yueqing, Wenzhou. The total planned land area is 578.8 mu (about 96 acres) and the total building area will be about 320,000 square meters. The construction of Yueqing Campus includes teaching buildings, library, dormitories, international exchange center, canteen, indoor gymnasium, outdoor stadium and related supporting projects. After completion, the Yueqing Campus will welcome more than 3,000 undergraduate students in the first year of operation, and the future student enrollment is expected to reach around 5,000.

The construction of Yueqing Campus will provide strong support for Wenzhou University of Technology to expand its enrollment scale and improve its teaching level. It will also inject powerful momentum for Yueqing to accelerate the deep integration of "industry, education and research", and promote industrial transformation and upgrading of urban functions in northern Wenzhou. 

"We will adhere to the educational philosophy of 'breaking down walls to run a big university, dismantling barriers to run majors, integrating production and education to build disciplines, and cultivating talents with virtue and wisdom'," said Zhou Wenlong, president of Wenzhou University of Technology. The school will fully connect with local development needs and the talent demands of industrial transformation and upgrading, closely follow industries to develop disciplines, and actively create an innovative highland of school-city integration, exploring new paths of integrated development of production, teaching and research to better serve Wenzhou's development with high quality.

In the future, the disciplines and majors laid out in the Yueqing Campus of Wenzhou University of Technology will focus on key industries such as intelligent electrics, intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, new energy, new materials and digital economy in Wenzhou's "5+5" industries, with initial plans to set up majors in electrical engineering and automation, IoT engineering, artificial intelligence and others. Meanwhile, the school will plan and build youth innovation parks, incubators and headquarters bases around the campus to introduce supporting facilities for business, culture and other living services, as well as new business formats, so as to promote two-way services, mutual empowerment and school-city integration between the region and universities.
