A Seminar on the Establishment of Degree Cultivation Sites for Mechanical and Civil Hydraulic Engineering

In order to promote the construction of various degree cultivation sites and strive for high-quality approval of degree site authorization by 2026, our university held a seminar on the construction of degree cultivation sites for mechanical and civil hydraulic engineering on the afternoon of November 28th. The meeting was attended by Principal Zhou Wenlong, Vice Presidents Wu Xiangpeng, Zheng Hua, Sun Furong, Party Committee Member and Director of the Research Office Wang Yuanyuan, as well as members of the working group for mechanical and civil hydraulic degree cultivation sites and heads of key functional departments. The meeting was chaired by Party Committee Member and Director of the Research Office Wang Yuanyuan.

To enhance pertinence and effectiveness, the meeting was divided into two stages, with reports and discussions conducted in sequence according to the order of the mechanical and civil hydraulic degree cultivation sites. Chen Fengjun, Vice Dean of the School of Intelligent Manufacturing and Electronic Engineering, and Chen Hui, Vice Dean (in charge of work) of the School of Architecture and Energy Engineering, respectively presented work reports on the mechanical and civil hydraulic degree cultivation sites, focusing on detailed reports of the construction plans and plans from various aspects such as guiding ideology, current situation, target tasks, planning measures, and major difficulties.

Attendees engaged in full discussions on topics such as refining disciplinary directions, talent introduction, platform construction, achievement cultivation, resource integration, and task implementation, and put forward constructive opinions and suggestions. Zhou Wenlong affirmed the meticulous review, clarification of the situation, identification of gaps, and efforts made by everyone in the construction of the mechanical and civil hydraulic degree cultivation sites. He further emphasized three points: first, in the application for master's degree programs, there should be comparisons and goals. A comparison should be made with similar authorized degree sites in other universities, as well as with degree sites applying during the same period. An analysis of the development at each stage should be conducted to have a clear understanding of both horizontal and vertical comparisons, as well as the gaps and development focus. Second, for specific work, there should be refinement and implementation. Talent introduction should be promptly addressed; planning for national fund projects should be made early; the potential of scientific research should be fully explored to produce substantial research GDP; part-time master's supervisors should fulfill their mission; cooperation with government departments, enterprises, and universities should be valued to actively expand new cooperative projects and industrial services. Each college should conduct targeted research for the effective implementation of specific work, while the university and colleges should establish corresponding institutional mechanisms at both levels to jointly overcome the development gap. Third, for resource guarantee, there should be overall planning and optimization. Seize the development opportunities of "strengthening the country through education," and based on comprehensive planning, quickly formulate scientific, feasible, and effective laboratory construction plans and budget for each degree cultivation site, seeking benefits from characteristics and development from benefits. Existing research experimental sites, equipment, funds, and other resources should be further clarified, activated, and used efficiently and optimally.
