Celebrating the 110th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Sino-American Alumni Association, Discussing the Internationalization Development of Schools Together——The 11th Teacher Symposium

In order to study and implement the important congratulatory letter from Xi Jinping and the spirit of the 110th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Sino-American Alumni Association, the Human Resources Department organized the 11th session of the " Jin Hai Tea Talk Series" teacher symposium on the morning of November 2nd. The theme of the symposium was "Celebrating the 110th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Sino-American Alumni Association, Discussing the Internationalization Development of Schools Together." The symposium was attended by the Director of the Human Resources Department, Li Bo, President of the Sino-American Alumni Association, Wang Naini, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, faculty members from various departments, and relevant staff. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Wu Xiangpeng.

General Secretary Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter on the 110th anniversary of the establishment of the Sino-American Alumni Association fully demonstrates the Party Central Committee's warm concern for the group of overseas students and the high regard for the work of overseas students. It also fully embodies the earnest hope for the Sino-American Alumni Association to continue playing an important role, injecting strong impetus and providing fundamental guidance for further improving the work of overseas students in the new journey. Our university's Sino-American Alumni Association should strengthen its own construction, strengthen the talent pool for overseas students returning to serve the country, establish a think tank for offering suggestions, and act as a grassroots diplomatic force. It should continuously improve the comprehensiveness of its organizational coverage, the closeness of its contacts, and the visibility of its work brand. 

Teachers from our university's Sino-American Alumni Association shared their practices and thoughts on talent cultivation and internationalized teaching. They believe that promoting the internationalization development of the school can be achieved by attempting bilingual teaching, developing internationally aligned courses, and promoting the internationalization of the curriculum. Furthermore, promoting international cooperation projects and facilitating inter-school exchanges and cooperation can also contribute to the internationalization of the school. The internationalization of the school is not only about internationalizing the curriculum but also about internationalizing educational philosophies. In this regard, we can draw on the essence of the global education system, combine it with our own practical situation, and chart a path of internationalization with our own characteristics. To promote the internationalization development of the school, we need to make efforts from multiple perspectives, including curriculum design, faculty team, research cooperation, and student exchanges. At the same time, they also put forward some specific suggestions, such as strengthening international cooperation and exchanges, promoting English teaching, and attracting outstanding overseas talents.

Wu Xiangpeng stated that in today's increasingly globalized world, the internationalization development of the school is not only a trend but also a responsibility. We should take internationalization as an opportunity to comprehensively improve the quality of education, academic standards, and cultural influence of the school. The internationalization development of the school is a long-term and arduous task. We need to continuously explore and practice with a global perspective and an inclusive attitude to achieve the outstanding development of the school on the international stage. As a new type of applied science and engineering university gathering overseas students, Wenzhou Institute of Science and Technology will further leverage the platform effectiveness of the Sino-American Alumni Association, focus on Wenzhou, face overseas, increase efforts to attract talents, gather more outstanding overseas talents, and strive to make breakthroughs in basic research and core technology development, contributing to the comprehensive promotion of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the new journey of promoting Chinese characteristic modernization. We hope that our returning teachers will not only base themselves in Wenzhou, combine their own scientific research development with local characteristics to help Wenzhou achieve self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology, but also promote the internationalization of the school. It is not only about student education plans, but teachers should also demonstrate the highlights of their overseas study background, introduce high-quality overseas resources, and promote an open-minded concept. We hope that everyone can work together to discuss the internationalization development of the school and jointly create a bright future for the school.
