The Ceremony for the Commissioning of the Science Popularization Base and Launch of the "Jinhai Lecture Hall"

To thoroughly implement the spirit and overall planning of General Secretary Xi Jinping's remarks on the equal importance of science popularization and technological innovation, fully recognize the significance of science popularization in the new era, and promote the work of school science popularization in a deeper and more substantial way, my school held the ceremony for the commissioning of the Science Popularization Base and launch of the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" activity in the afternoon of November 16th. Principal Zhou Wenlong, Party Committee Deputy Secretary Lyu Chaohui, Party Committee member and director of the Science and Research Department Wang Yuan yuan, Party member of Wenzhou Science and Technology Association and vice chairman Sui Huijie, Party member of Wenzhou Federation of Social Sciences and vice chairman Ni Kaomeng, representatives of the science popularization bases, teacher and student representatives of various colleges, and representatives of main functional departments attended the launch ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Party Committee member and director of the Science and Research Department Wang Yuan yuan. 

Wang Yuan Yuan first introduced the implementation plan of the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" activity from aspects such as organizational structure, content and form, purpose and significance. Taking the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" as the carrier, my school will further integrate advantages and characteristic science popularization resources in the future to better carry out mass and social science popularization activities and further expand the influence of science popularization. At the same time, strengthen contacts with domestic and foreign platforms, scientific research institutions and universities, join hands with cooperation, and write new chapters of science popularization together.

My school has always attached importance to finding genes from culture and innovating from practice. It has carried out rich and characteristic science popularization activities of Wenzhou University of Technology and been affirmed by competent departments. Two science popularization bases of natural science and social science have successively been approved as municipal-level science popularization bases. Sui Huijie, Party member of Wenzhou Science and Technology Association and vice chairman, and Ni Kaomeng, Party member of Wenzhou Federation of Social Sciences and vice chairman, commissioned the "Emergency Science Popularization Intelligent Base of Wenzhou University of Technology" and "Social Science Popularization Base of Wenzhou University of Technology" respectively.  

Wang Zhengzong, person in charge of the "Emergency Science Popularization Intelligent Base of Wenzhou University of Technology", and Cao Ke Liang, representative of the "Social Science Popularization Base of Wenzhou University of Technology", respectively carried out experience sharing on popular science activities in the fields of safety production and legal popularization.

Lyu Chaohui made an important speech, putting forward three hopes. First, he hoped that the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" would adhere to the "Eight Eight Strategy" as the fundamental principle, deeply implement and realize the new development philosophy, and really find the entry points, connection points and focus points to transform the new development philosophy into popular science practice, so that popular science can gather stronger support for the overall development of the school and the reform and development of regional economy and society. Second, he hoped that the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" would adhere to promoting the spirit of scientists, strengthen the leading value of popular science, help promote the strong atmosphere and progressive improvement of the school's science and technology and popular science work, and contribute more scenes and strength of science and technology and popular science innovation development to our province and city. Third, he hoped that the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" would closely focus on the overall high-quality development of the school, take the approval of the municipal-level popular science base as an opportunity, actively explore the development path of interdisciplinary integration under the background of new engineering and technology, further innovate popular science methods, create new models of school-school integration and school-local integration development, better meet the expectations and needs of the broad masses of teachers, students, and the people for high-quality popular science, and help Wenzhou "create new advantages in reform and opening up, and create new brilliance in high-quality development" again. 

Zhou Wenlong gave the first lecture of the "Jinhai Lecture Hall": "Fibers: From Tradition to Innovation". He elaborated on the history, concept, function, evolution, and development of fibers, emphasizing the innovation of fibers as a traditional material and industry, and the future development direction of fibers from daily applications to irreplaceable modern and future technological materials. Finally, Zhou shared a quote from Xi Jinping with all the teachers and students, "Young scientific and technological talents should establish a scientific spirit, cultivate innovative thinking, tap into innovative potential, and enhance innovative capabilities, constantly surpassing the achievements of their predecessors." The innovative consciousness, scientific thinking, and expectations and encouragement for teachers and students conveyed by Zhou's lecture greatly benefited the teachers and students present. 

This launching ceremony opened the prelude to the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" of the school. In the future, the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" will continue to face all teachers and students, align with national, provincial, and municipal major strategic deployments, focus on the development goals of the school, and invite teachers from inside and outside the school to give theme lectures on cutting-edge science and technology, industrial transformation, innovation and entrepreneurship, scientific culture, and other aspects from time to time. I believe that the "Jinhai Lecture Hall" will further consolidate the school's advantages and characteristics, promote the spirit of scientists, and contribute to the outstanding value guidance, leading the campus trend, demonstrating scientific and technological achievements, and serving innovative development.
